Wellness and Vaccination ProgramWe are pleased to help you get off to a good start with your new puppy or kitten. Having a puppy or kitten is a lot of fun, and there is a lot to know in order to give them the best care possible, to keep them healthy and happy. |
During our visits, we provide helpful information and support materials on nutrition, behaviour and general care. We will also set up a health program including a series of examinations, vaccinations and parasite control for your pet’s needs. We will inform you of all the services Britannia Animal Hospital has to offer your pet and welcome you to tour our facility. By providing a good start, we hope you have a healthy, happy friend for many years to come. |
The annual detailed physical examination is crucial to preventive care of adult dogs and cats. Because these creatures age more rapidly than humans do, a yearly examination combined with blood and fecal tests allows us to monitor their health and to detect any underlying concerns, to allow intervention early. As well, vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition and dental care are discussed at these appointments. |
Most dogs and cats are considered to be seniors by the time they are 7 years old. After this age, we schedule preventative examinations on a biannual basis. We also offer some additional testing for these pets including urinalysis, chest X-rays, ECG’s, blood pressure monitoring and tonometry. We can also discuss any behavioural changes which may occur with age, and options to deal with them. |
All of our doctors and staff are experienced in exotic animal medicine. We care for many different species and our office visits consist not only of a detailed examination of your pet, but we are also happy to provide grooming if needed. Information regarding your pet’s diet, behaviour, housing and other unique characteristics is also provided during our visits. We have exam rooms specifically tailored for exotics that are equipped with scales and instruments designed for examining and treating all of our exotic patients. Our staff is well trained in handling exotic animals in order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for you and your pet during your visit. Please contact us and we will be happy to schedule an appointment for you with one of our doctors. For the safety of your pet, we do require that they be adequately restrained. Generally, a pet carrier is ideal for most species. |
