Our Veterinarians

Dr. Heather White

Dr. Heather D. White recieved her B.Sc. and D.V.M from the University of Guelph. After graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1990, she started practice at Southdown Animal Clinic and gained valuable experience as an associate veterinarian. In 1993 she and Dr. John Valsamis opened Britannia Animal Hospital. Dr. White is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the hospital along with practicing medicine and surgery on dogs, cats, birds and many different species of exotic animals. Dr. White is a member of the Golden Triangle Veterinary Academy and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association.

When not at the hospital, Dr. White is raising her son and daughter, volunteering for various school activities, running and cooking gourmet dinners.

 

Dr. John Valsamis

Dr. John Valsamis recieved his B.Sc. and D.V.M from the University of Guelph. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1990, Dr. Valsamis practiced medicine and surgery of dogs, cats, birds and exotics at several hospitals in Toronto, Scarborough and Mississauga. Dr. Valsamis opened Britannia Animal Hospital with Dr. Heather White in 1993. Dr. Valsamis' main interests in veterinary medicine include medicine and surgery of birds and various other exotic animal species.

Aviculture has been a huge passion for Dr. Valsamis since childhood. Dr. Valsamis has spoken at several parrot meetings and actively promotes psittacine aviculture and it's involvement in the retail sector from British Columbia to Quebec. Membership with the Association of Avian Veterinarians began in 1986 and he is fascinated with the advancements of avian medicine and surgery with each new journal.

As a councilor on both the registration and discipline committees for the College of Veterinarians of Ontario for several years, Dr. Valsamis gained valuable experience in the regulatory aspects of veterinary medicine. Presently, Dr. Valsamis is on the board of directors of the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Group (MOVEH) and is the managing director of the emergency specialty area of the hospital.

When not at his hospital or the MOVEH, Dr. Valsamis is busy raising his son and daughter, training for marathons, landscaping and working on various construction and artistic projects.

 

Dr. Kristen Jaques

Dr. Jaques graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She has been an associate at Britannia Animal Hospital since 1998 and over the years has enjoyed seeing not only dogs and cats, but various exotic species as well. She has also worked at the Toronto Veterinary Emergency Clinic where she gained further emergency education and training. She frequently attends lectures and conferences regarding all aspects of veterinary medicine and enjoys reading articles and journals to further her knowledge.

Over the years, Dr. Jaques has had a variety of pets including: a rat, a pionus, cats and various species of fish.  She is married and has two sons. In her spare time she enjoys reading, running, cooking and gardening.
